Sadie finds fun in tennis

I spent the holiday weekend relaxing and recovering in Alabama with my in-laws. After my trip to Korea, I was in much need of the calmness and serenity that we always find in the Alabama countryside. We usually don't do much of anything while we're there, which sometimes drives me crazy, but it was exactly what I needed Memorial Day Weekend.

On Sunday, while the men were out fishing, my sister-in-law asked me if I wanted to play tennis. I hesitated, but obliged her, knowing she would find fun in kicking my butt in a game I know almost nothing about.

I played tennis in P.E. during high school, and also used to enjoy racket ball once in a while, but that is the extent of my experience with a racket.

We played (not too concerned about the exact rules of tennis) for about an hour and I had a blast (and got in a good work out in doing so).

Now I am on a mission to learn how to play tennis. Any suggestions?

Sadie,

I have a client that is returning to the game after a rather long hiatus. If you are interested, I can get her to call you. I think it would be a good match-up, assuming you're looking to play singles.

The website is www.shelbyvilletennis.com .

They have an adult league during the summer but it started about a week or two ago. They do offer lessons though so check out the website and see if you might be interested. It is definitely a fun and exciting sport to get into and the Shelbyville group is growing.

Sadie,

Call the rec center to get the web site for the Shelbyville Tennis Association and there are options available for lessons, adult clinics, and such. I play so little these days, due to the demands of my schedule and both robert and I miss playing tournaments, USTA league tennis and all the other leagues out there. Since we moved away from Murfreesboro, I have really have had no involvement but I know that the association is fairly active here for a small town.
