Local woman featured in Gooseberry Patch Cookbook

Posted Thursday, December 18, 2008, at 9:10 AM

Julie Marsh of Bedford County was recently featured in the Gooseberry Patch Cookbook. Her recipe submission, "Granny Hodge's Teacakes," follows. The recipe was inadvertantly omitted from an article in Wednesday's paper.

2 1/4 cup sugar, divided

3 eggs, beaten

5 cups all purpose flour

2 T. buttermilk

1 cup butter, softened

1 t. baking soda

1 t. vanilla extract

Mix together 2 cups of sugar and remaining ingredients. Roll out on a floured surface to 1/8-inch thick. Cut with favorite Christmas cooking cutters. Sprinkle lightly with reserved sugar. Transfer to lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden. Makes 2 dozen.

Thanks for pointing this out. I love the Gooseberry Patch cookbooks!

She should.

Sadie has great features.

(Of course,I think all the T-G-ers do-and not just the ones they write.)

It's not enough to have good skin,teeth,hair,bone structure,body weight,etc.

There has to be a person behind the outer beauty for someone to be truly attractive.

Rupert Murdoch does well to have his one page three filled of pin-up worthy folk.

We can do a dozen pages of all ages, shapes and sizes-and our eyes are blessed by good stories and not just pretty images.

(Sadie would make a good cover or calendar girl, though.)
