Seeking New Year's BabiesPosted Friday, January 2, 2009, at 2:26 PM
Traditionally, the Times-Gazette does a story each year featuring the first baby born in Bedford County. Because Heritage Medical Center no longer delivers babies, we are asking for anyone who knows of the first Bedford County baby born (most likely at Harton Regional or Middle Tennessee Medical Center) to contact Sadie Fowler at 684-1200.

It's very sad to say Shelbyville has a brand new Hospital (that our local govenment just voted to gave them a big tax break) and they will not deliver any Bedford County babies here. What's the Hospital for??? (Looks) If you have to go out of the county to get born will this not hurt Shelbyville and Bedford County tax revenue form the State standing point that no one was born here. Thats really gonna look good 10 years down the road nobody has been born in Bedford County in the past ten years. What's next no one can die in Shelbyville, Bedford County...Sounds just as good to me as no births here. Then maybe no one can be buried here soon either.
