Sadie, our favorite is nothing for an article since it does not have any recipe except for boiling water and salt but my vote is for edamame (Japanese) mao dou (Chinese) or commonly known as soybean.

As with most veggies there are different varieties and possibly all soybeans can be eaten while young this way, but we buy seeds specifically bred to eat fresh from the pod. Here is a page from the company we buy from each year. http://www.evergreenseeds.com/edsoyed.ht...

My grandchildren love for their papaw to cook out. Burgers on the grill and homemade fries. Their favorite is grilled corn on the cob. I prefer peaches and cream. Pull the husks back and remove the silk. Then baste the corn with melted garlic butter and lightly salt. Pull the husks back up around the corn and soak in water for 30 minutes. Place the corn on a hot grill and turn when the husks turn brown or almost black until the husks are evenly browned. Remove and pull the husks back (my grandchildren use the husks for a handle) and enjoy.
