Pray for Korley

Posted Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 9:04 AM

As the community comes together in prayer for Korley Davis, how are you showing your support personally?

Many folks are displaying their support with green and yellow ribbons.

One group of friends is planning a fundraiser to be held at Calsonic Feb. 11.

Community Elementary is collecting "Kans for Korley."

If you know of other things/events benefiting Korley please respond to this blog or contact Sadie Fowler at sfowler@t-g.com.

There will be a story in Sunday's paper outlining benefits for Korley Davis.

Folks have called wondering where to purchase ribbons and signs in support of Korley. So far, I know that yard signs may be purchased by calling 695-5648 and ribbons are being sold at Mary's Flowers (Lewis Ave.), Flowers For Keeps on Union St. and Creative Touch on Fairfield Pike.

It's great to see the community here in Shelbyville, and surrounding areas praying so hard for Korley.

She is definitely in my thoughts.

I just have one question: The ribbons that are being sold, are the proceeds from the sales also going to the Davis family? It would be a shame if not. I can't imagine why someone would try to market such a troubled time by selling support ribbons for profit... Does anyone know?

So sorry she lost her battle..she will have victory on the other side. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and close friends of the family

Zezima

My wife made a couple of hundred of the two color ribbons. You can find them at some of the stores around town if they have any left. As far as us 100% of the moneys received are being deposited in the fund set up for Korley and her family at Ascend Credit Union. My guess, if you buy a ribbon from any of the business' here in Shelbyville the proceeds are going to the family. I had a chance to Meet Becky and Donald at the Children's Hospital in Nashville just a few days before Korley's passing; they are two really nice people. My heart aches for them and what they are going through. May God be with them and comfort them.

This situation reminds me of the song by Sherrie Austin Streets Of Heaven.
