How does the walking horse industry affect you, economically?" post your answers here and include your name for possible inclusion in a story the T-G is working on for tomorrow's paper.

The problem I have with the walking horse industry is not really them but the fact that our local government depends too much on it instead of really trying to lure in real industries and good paying jobs. With the horse showing industry in the chaos it is in and its future in doubt, the city needs to focus on industry and jobs that are more grounded and less dependent on tourism. Plus lately the horse show industry seems to shed a negative light on the city itself which definitely does not help in recruiting more business to come here.

Sadie, the big loser to me are the non-profits that count on this horse shows for their budget. The show we work with(a civic group and local schools) have to question ourselves every year IF we are going to have it.

It used to be automatic and ALL of us would hate to be on the committee that closes a 100+ year tradition.
