Cancer Affects Any Age
Posted Wednesday, February 1, at 6:33 PM

Most everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another. Either you have had it or someone in your family, a friend, a coworker etc. I think it is safe to say that everyone knows someone that has been affected by this horrible disease. "You have cancer" are three of the worst words to hear from your doctor I would say, but what if you heard those words once and beat the disease only to hear those words again for a different type of cancer? What if on top of that your father passed away from cancer during your own battle? It would be a tough part of life to make it through no doubt. ...

No Social Security Checks???
Posted Tuesday, July 12, at 8:33 PM

I am sure all of you know that our "leaders" are in Washington trying to come to a budget agreement. In my opinion neither side seems to be concerned with anything except improving their chances of re-election. I am really not sure as to the best solution, but it seems to me that neither side really understands what the American people want. ...

Tolls and Taxes
Posted Friday, May 6, at 7:05 AM

Are the high gas prices taking a toll on your bank account? With gas prices near $4.00 per gallon traveling anywhere is getting more costly. President Obama knows this and has a plan to help, sort of, except it is not going to help you and me. A draft of a bill called "Transportation Opportunities Act" was released from the Obama administration last week. ...

Got some extra cash laying around? Think you don't pay enough in taxes? Want to help our government out? Then check this website out http://www.fms.treas.gov/faq/moretopics_gifts.html. The United States Government could use a little extra cash. I never knew you could donate to the government, willingly at least. Maybe some of the rich people, such as Bill Gates, Stephen King and Warren Buffet who have stated that they don't pay enough in taxes can donate a little and quit complaining...

No Sanitation Service?
Posted Sunday, January 16, at 6:38 PM

I see the city government is taking cues from our federal government. When the people balk at the idea of increased fees and/or taxes then the first step is threaten cutting services, this way maybe the people will be scared of losing these services and support paying these fees and/or taxes. ...

Using Tragedy for Personal Gain
Posted Tuesday, January 11, at 10:31 AM

I am sure you all are aware of the shooting that took place in Arizona over the weekend, where a lone gunman killed six people, including a nine year girl, and wounded fourteen others. Do you also know that many people, which included some politicians and the sheriff of Tucson, immediately began pointing fingers at groups such as the Republicans and the Tea Party, saying that their negative comments of our government were the cause of this tragedy? Why? Do you think these people are concerned with the real reason this tragedy happened and want to take steps to try to avoid future similar incidents or are they merely jumping at a prime opportunity to thrust themselves into the spotlight so that their opinion can be heard? I believe they just want to be heard and gain recognition. ...
