  • If they were that concerned, they wouldn't itemize and write all of their charitable contributions off.

  • When I first heard about the website I thought it was a joke. I could not believe that the government had a process in place for people to donate money to them and what surprised me even more was that it was established in 1843! In researching this further I have found another website http://www.treasurydirect.gov/. After navigating through this website I found this link https://www.pay.gov/paygov/forms/formInstance.html?agencyFormId=23779454, which is a form for you to fill out to make a donation which is specifically allotted to help reduce the public debt. From 2000 to present people have donated over $20M to this fund.

Interesting you believe someone's earnings already belongs to you, and when the government confiscates less than normal, even though they still pay THE VAST MAJORITY of income taxes, you are somehow being slighted.

  • I would donate to this if I believed they were in reform mode. Instead, this would seem to me to be enabling more bad behavior. Kind of like giving alcohol to a drunk so he can pay the electric bill.

  • Our current tax laws represent over 14,000 pages of gobbledygook that even those who wrote them don't understand, yet you and I are expected to understand them or face fines and possible imprisonment if we don't. Kind of like the health care bill that was recently passed. We have gone way beyond a government by the people and for the people when complicated laws are enacted that take away our income and threaten us with jail if we don't understand them.
