Donate to the Government

Posted Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at 2:10 PM

Got some extra cash laying around? Think you don't pay enough in taxes? Want to help our government out? Then check this website out http://www.fms.treas.gov/faq/moretopics_.... The United States Government could use a little extra cash. I never knew you could donate to the government, willingly at least. Maybe some of the rich people, such as Bill Gates, Stephen King and Warren Buffet who have stated that they don't pay enough in taxes can donate a little and quit complaining.

If they were that concerned, they wouldn't itemize and write all of their charitable contributions off.

Isn't there some kind of law that says private people can not give money to the Government because it can be taken as a payment for favors later down the road?

I personally think the US Government has spent enough of my money without me giving them more.

Show us what we am getting for the money they have already gotten from us. Our money doesn't even pay the interest on the money they keep on spending.

I think President Obama should ask Libya for the money and see what they say. Or ask Egypt for some pay back and see what kind of answer he gets from them.

He could ask the Iraqi people or the Afghan people for a little extra money to help President Obama supply them with sitting ducks for terrorist attack practice and training exercises.

Maybe Obama should ask the people right here at home (the illegal Mexicans) for money to help with the border protection he doesn't seem to be doing anything about.

Maybe the Canadians could chip in a little to help Pres Obama build that new bridge connecting Canada to Michigan, so the illegals can cross over into America easier there too.

After going to the site, I read in the first paragraph:

"Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government."

That is the problem with Congress now! They are spending all their budget money on other things and coming up short. This special gift account allows them to use the money for anything... more than likely for vacations or Repub/Democratic dinners etc.

It should be a little more specific before I donate. My donation isn't going to lower food cost or the price of Gasoline. It isn't going to lower the cost of living or raise the value of the dollar.

When I first heard about the website I thought it was a joke. I could not believe that the government had a process in place for people to donate money to them and what surprised me even more was that it was established in 1843! In researching this further I have found another website http://www.treasurydirect.gov/. After navigating through this website I found this link https://www.pay.gov/paygov/forms/formIns..., which is a form for you to fill out to make a donation which is specifically allotted to help reduce the public debt. From 2000 to present people have donated over $20M to this fund.

Interesting you believe someone's earnings already belongs to you, and when the government confiscates less than normal, even though they still pay THE VAST MAJORITY of income taxes, you are somehow being slighted.

I would donate to this if I believed they were in reform mode. Instead, this would seem to me to be enabling more bad behavior. Kind of like giving alcohol to a drunk so he can pay the electric bill.

That account was set up 54 years after the US Constitution was ratified, yet we the people have never been told about it!

My guess is that it never went over big back then either, or it would be known to the people over the years.

54 years after the Constitution was ratified, the people were Patriotic towards our country. Today anyone who is Patriotic towards our country knows the Government has run astray and has Usurped its power by deceit and unlawful means.

The Government has become an Apocalypse about to happen from a Patriotic people just over two hundred years ago.

Today, the Government of the people and by the people IS NOT for the people!

Our current tax laws represent over 14,000 pages of gobbledygook that even those who wrote them don't understand, yet you and I are expected to understand them or face fines and possible imprisonment if we don't. Kind of like the health care bill that was recently passed. We have gone way beyond a government by the people and for the people when complicated laws are enacted that take away our income and threaten us with jail if we don't understand them.

Tim,

Then again it is one of our best defenses!

You can not be tried if you don't understand the charge. Since no one seems to understand the charge, they have no jurisdiction to proceed.

When you don't object to the charge and put the burden of proof on the Government, they can assume you know and understand the charge against you and try you, when in fact, they don't have the power to continue if you object in a timely and specific manner.

The Health care bill will have to be rescinded because it is contrary to the Constitution. They will wait until late 2013 to do it. They are hoping Obama won't be re-elected and it will be easier then. They aren't counting on Obama getting re-elected.

All federal Legislation can only apply in federal territories, That means the "FEDERAL INCOME TAX" is Federally Legislated and can only apply to federal territories and not in the states.

A State Income Tax would have to be paid by State residents but not Federal Income Tax because Federal Jurisdiction isn't applicable within the states except in federal territories like military bases and National Parks or places ceded over to the Federal government, which could be flood lands, radioactive property, and needful building (FBI, FEME, IRS, Federal Banks) etc..
