I am sure all of you know that our "leaders" are in Washington trying to come to a budget agreement. In my opinion neither side seems to be concerned with anything except improving their chances of re-election. I am really not sure as to the best solution, but it seems to me that neither side really understands what the American people want. I think most people want the government to stop spending recklessly and find things, programs and or people that the government could operate without. The thing is those type of things are never mentioned when it comes to budget cuts. They seem to always threaten to cut something that would affect the average American first. Today it was reported that Obama is now stating that unless a budget agreement is made, that he cannot guarantee that social security checks will be mailed out next month. What Obama doesn't mention is whether or not the vice president, all of the members of congress and himself will receive their checks. I bet they will. Obama's salary is a little over $33k per month, Biden's is a little over $19k per month, and our senator's and congressman's receive a salary that is roughly $14K per month each and there are 535 members. So nearly $7.5 million of taxpayer money goes out each month to pay these people and Obama has the nerve to say social security checks may not go out! The question I would like the President to answer is how many people drawing social security could be paid out of the $7.5 million that he and the other members of congress make each month, because at least those people earned their money!
