Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

Posted Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at 12:36 PM

First of all, if you ever go to Cedar Crest Hospital in Smyrna, (just off I-24) expect to get top notch service and medical care. I have been in hospitals a few times, so I have something to compare.

These folks were not only methodical and professional, they were nice! They truly went out of their way to see that I was as comfortable as possible. I had an omelet on the morning I got out that would compete with many breakfast restaurants.

Now to why I was there, as my orthopedic surgeon put it, life had caught up to me and I needed to have four vertebrae fused in my neck. That crushing flip while body surfing in the ocean, a few crunches in High School football, a water skiing tumble that left my whole body black and blue, etc, etc.

I look forward to the finished result, but let me tell you, the after surgery recovery is a bit more than they paint in the tour-guide brochure! I would still do it, but ouch!

They took bone out of my hip to fuse between the vertebrae and until I tried to get out of bed, it seemed to be great. At least until they took the pain blocker out.

According to the printed matter, I would only have to wear the neck brace two weeks. Nope, how about 6 weeks, and they left out the "bone growth stimulator" I will wear four hours every day.

I would STILL do it to take away the pain that has been creeping up on me for years. The doctor was surprised I was walking. But I would not have planned the Halloween party and eBay classes and regular work schedule, had I known what reality was. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

Ouch!! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

My daughter delivered her baby at StoneCrest and she had a wonderful experience as well.

You are right Stone Crest. Must be taking these pain-killers a little too close together.

-- Posted by stevemills on Wed, Oct 31, 2007, at 1:52 PM

I delivered both of my babies at StoneCrest and will deliver another there in june! I LOVE it there. You're right, the difference is the facility is clean and you know it and the nurses and doctors are exceptionally nice. With my son (1st baby) my ob/gyn made me go to the hospital with preterm labor and the nurse at MTMC said "Oh honey, this doesn't hurt". Really? Coulda swore it was me and not you anyhow! I told my dr about it and he said not to go back go to StoneCrest and Wow what a difference! I'll never go anywhere else. I live in Lewisburg and will risk delivering in the car before I stop at MTMC!

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery!

Which hurts worse? The hip where they took the bone out or neck vertebrae where they put it in? Just wondering for my own future decisions.....

I hope you get to feeling better... Recooperation is usually a little rough, but it is a time to be reminded of how we sometimes, take things for granted.

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 8:13 AM

So, MyNeighbor and Steve Mills... Are you going through the same things? I am confused.

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 9:15 AM

lol, I think someone posted under the wrong name! Ooops!

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 9:18 AM

LOL Laura, I think you are on to something, so My Neighbor and Steve Mills are the same??? I am confused....If he is, I do believe that is grounds for termination of blogging, according to Carney.

-- Posted by jesuslovesevery1 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 9:34 AM

Sharp eyes, but I had this blog name before I became a blogger, so John is aware. If it is a violation, we can just drop one but curious why it seems to bother folks.

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 9:44 AM

I'll tell you why it bothers people. Why would you need two names? Blogs are about your opinions more times than not. Do you have a problem displaying that opinion in public? Do you have more than one opinion? It is a little deceitful. That is why it bothers people.

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 9:49 AM

Well, most folks blog annonymously, so I would not think there is much of a issue there but for those with suspicious minds, maybe.

I could not help but notice that very few, if any response bloggers use their real names. Is that because everyone is deceitful? Probably not, they just enjoy being able to speak their mind without it coming back to bite them.

The fact is that I was a blogger like you, BEFORE I became an official blogger. No one asked me to dispose of the original name and I made a mistake when I signed on this morning.

I realize that this is not as diabolical or deceitful as some may wish, but I am human.

For those interested, I have already contacted John to see what he would like to do.

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 10:05 AM

Oh by no means am I a blogger, I am a commentor....lol. I post under my name b/c I couldn't care less about what people think of my opinion, it is just that MINE. I think any honest and true to theirselves person would do the same.

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 10:17 AM

It sounds as if you concluded that I did this on purpose to be deceitful.

I apologize for creating this situation and John is helping me remove the other name.

Thanks for letting me know how this may be interpreted.

Steve

You don't have to apologize to me, but just out of curiosity...why would you sign in as any other name than the one we all know you by?

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 10:32 AM

I just think it's funny, Revolution comes back as HERSELF, and John comes back with "anyone caught will have their accounts deleted and banned from any more blogs." Yet, we have a situation where not one, not two, but THREE of the "bloggers" have multiple accounts and john is not sticking to his word. It is one thing to have had a name to "comment with" before you became a blogger, but my question is, why do you even log into the other account, since you don't need it anymore? I still hope you get to feeling better, and the fact that you have multiple accounts, doesn't bother me. Just the fact that Mr. Editor comes on here, runs a few people off and says he will take action, when in fact we see the opposite.

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 10:57 AM

Darrick brings up an interesting point.....since we know accounts can be banned and deleted why can't you just ask Mr. Carney to ban your first account so you don't accidentally sign into it anymore.

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 11:00 AM

I used to use the other one actively. Maybe I could blame it on the pain meds I am taking, but I got up this morning and signed on. Did not think twice.

I sign out by the way, because I am almost always on a laptop and I do not like leaving passwords on the computer.

If you would like to contact me through e-mail I will be happy to elaborate.

Another "by the way" John said there is no policy on having two names, but he will look into it.

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 11:03 AM

The only thing I've ever said along those lines was that someone who had been banned under one login name couldn't come back just by creating a new one. I don't think I've specifically said anything about someone who is still in good standing having two logins. We'd certainly prefer that you didn't, and Steve has asked me to delete his older login so that there is no confusion.

Looking at our user list, I've seen people who had two logins for what were obviously innocent reasons -- they lost their password or forgot that they'd already signed up, so you have JohnSmith and JohnSmith1 both in the system, but no intent to deceive. Again, we'd rather have one login per person, but I think this was an honest mistake on Steve's part. It's not comparable to the previous situation where someone had been banned for profanity and then thought they could get around it by creating a new name.

-- Posted by Jicarney on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 11:03 AM

Thanks for clearing that up John.

Hey countrymom, sorry we took a side trip and now that my alter-ego was eliminated, my previous comments have disappeared so,

At first both pains hurt about the same. Today is the third day and the hip has quickly become a minor issue, unless I hit it of course. The neck is getting much better, although I will still use the pain medicine.

Swallowing is still an issue from the swelling inside, but it is getting better as well. I used to gulp food and this has improved my eating habits.

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:15 PM

but I think this was an honest mistake on Steve's part.

---- Posted by Jicarney on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 11:03

How do you mistakenly login in under an "old" name, that you no longer need, since you can now post blogs? Same with Eugene and others.

-- Posted by jesuslovesevery1 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:15 PM

Steve, glad to hear you're feeling a little better.

(and by the way, this is what it says when I signed in "Posted by darrick_04 on Wed, Dec 31, 1969, at 6:00 PM")

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:17 PM

I guess I have explained that as far as I can and further explanation will never be accepted, so chat away, but I am gone.

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:17 PM

Darrick, I have been posting in the '60's for weeks now, haha.

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:20 PM

OH AND THIS IS NO EXCUSE..

"I've seen people who had two logins for what were obviously innocent reasons -- they lost their password"

-- Posted by Jicarney on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 11:03 AM

Seems that you have a link beside the password box that will send you your forgotten password, but nice try anyway Carney.

-- Posted by jesuslovesevery1 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:28 PM

HAHA, that is so very true jesus... wonder if there are any more excuses that he can "clear up"

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:32 PM

Darrick, I have been posting in the '60's for weeks now, haha.

UGH, I don't understand it... PLUS, when it uses all those crazy symbols where an apostrophe is supposed to go!

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:34 PM

Darrick, you and I would SOOO not fit in with a bunch of hippies either! lol

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:40 PM

Glad to see I am not the only one living in the 60's and seeing strange symbols, thought I was on a 60's acid trip there for a minute LOL.

-- Posted by jesuslovesevery1 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:40 PM

Darrick, you and I would SOOO not fit in with a bunch of hippies either! lol

-- Posted by LauraSFT on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:40 PM

Probably not. Except their peaceful government protests, which are completely necessary and I wished would happen again.

-- Posted by darrick_04 on Thu, Nov 1, 2007, at 12:44 PM

Thanks for the reply Steve!

Hope you are feeling better everyday!
