Gardeners, tonight is the night!! AND Get Dirty, be happy!Posted Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at 7:49 AM
Usually a few days after a freeze warning, things seem to warm up for a while, so I usually give my annuals serious protection for these first few night and see what will happen. I hate to end up with two more weeks of "Indian Summer" after a few cold nights and no flowers or plants left to enjoy.
Sounds reminiscent of this spring. Now that was serious cold. My squash plants, peppers, peas etc, survived that, but it was a LOT of work and then we had the drought.
Oh well, we can always look forward to next year (I hope) and that is one reason gardening is a good hobby to have. You always have something to look forward to, but now they have found another reason!
In the latest issue of Organic Gardening they have snippet about "Soils Makes You Happy". It seems there is a common soil bacterium (Mycobacterium vaccae) that causes a feeling of happiness!! Yahoo, I always knew there was a reason I liked to get dirty! They are also looking in to this bacteria to treat asthma, TB, and cancer. WOW!
