Passwords are like underwear.....

Posted Sunday, November 11, 2007, at 1:57 PM

An interesting article in the eBay "Chatter" http://www.ebaychatter.com/

It describes how underwear should be:

Changed often

Not shared with friends

Not left lying around

Should be mysterious

The longer the better

But the most interesting thing is a chart showing how long it takes to crack a password with different numbers, lower and upper case and combinations of all of the above.

Something else you can do to add to the complexity of your password is add special characters. !@#$%^&*()<>?, things like that. Some sites may restrict use of those, but when you can use them they help. Every special character you use makes it exponentially more difficult to crack
