Web Information Marketplace meetingPosted Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 1:22 PM
At our last meeting we discussed naming the group so we had a concrete way of referring to it. What we came up with was the name in the title. Acronym being W.I.M.
It is not set in concrete, but we are looking to be as encompassing as possible. We want to include folks who just want to know what the internet is all about, those who want to use it to learn, to entertain, to share information, and maybe earn a living as well.
We are not all techies, in fact most of us aren't, so we don't want to make people feel uncomfortable coming to our meetings. There are no officers, no bylaws, and no formalities. We just get together and share our experiences, or lack of experience with others about the internet.
There are no dumb questions, but if there were I would be a leader in that category. I think someone has learned something at every meeting and if not, we had the satisfaction of knowing we helped someone.
With that in mind, we are planning an "open house" with FOOD and some giveaways and an introduction program with live internet access. When you ask? Don't know, well we almost do, but we want to work the details and set the date at our next meeting.
So when is the next meeting? We wanted to skip the Sunday after the 4th to hopefully catch more people in town, so we set it the next general meeting of W.I.M. for Sunday, July 20th. I have just confirmed where we can not have it (Chamber is spoken for), so we need to come up with another meeting place for that day.
With the schedule tightening, I reserved the Chamber for Sunday August 17th. It is available any time after 2:00 PM so we need to consider the time and see if that date works.
Your feedback would be appreciated. How about the name? What about the open house? Where can we meet on July 20th?
What is a winning lottery number? (While I had you answering, I figured I'd slip one in.)
