Now this art makes me queasyPosted Monday, August 18, 2008, at 7:54 AM
Bathroom at 20,000 feet?
I am not sure I could go in there even if it was on the first floor. At least I might have to close my eyes and hope for the best. Yes, I have an unusual fear of heights. Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

I love this kind of art. One of my favorites is a bridge in Fredrick, Maryland. The link below shows several examples of this genre. If I could find an artist that would work for a reasonable remuneration maybe I could turn my old house into a mansion with just a little paint.:)

It is a person. I had to reduce it to meet blog standards. You have it dead on Thom.
You know, it does look like it now. One of those blue-shirt and tie wearing office types. Ok, the artist's humor isn't as neat as I was thinking. Otherwise that person would have their pants down...not like you could see anything anyway.
I thought it was a person falling - the dark shape in the picture.
Looks kind of like a kite to me. Maybe that artist has a sense of humor. Kind of like your doing your business over a neighborhood or something.
I have a fear of heights, too but that picture just reminded me of my bath after a plumbing leak rotted my floor out.
(As they have no shower curtain,I expect these homeowners suffered a similar occurrence.)
What scares me is that I blithely assumed I could step from tub to sink to toilet - or just do my business over the threshold, wash up in the tub and never go in any further.
BTW,what is that dark, squiggly thing among the clouds- a baby air kraken?
I have received that picture in an e-mail also. There are some real artists out there.
MotherMayhem - It's Trompe L'oeil, the French term for that kind of art.
Steve, I don't really have a fear of heights, but looking at this picture does make my stomach feel like it's in my throat. It's very neat though! I wouldn't mind having my bedroom painted as a picture of some sort! Thanks for sharing!!
I have one for a smoker's lounge. It is a ceiling painted as if you are in a grave looking up at people looking down at you. Thought provoking to say the least!
I don't think a fear of heights is unusual -- I think it's a form of self-preservation! But then, maybe that's because I have a fear of heights.
I've seen this artist's work before. There's a French term for it that means "fool the eye." in this case, I think it fools the stomach, too.
