  • I'm glad to hear that you're okay, even if your computer isn't doing so well.

  • Thanks, I must be feeling better, if I am fussing.

  • Seems to me you worry more over the tech stuff, than your heart. :) Glad you're back home and things have been set to right again.

  • When they review diet, etc. they always come back to stress, but the main culprit is plaque in the artery. Originally a calcium ring was the magnet that attracted the plaque.

Now it may be the sutures from the bypass, or something else, but plaque is still the nasty. Maybe I put out a lot of plaque because of diet or heredity and maybe stress plays a part by constricting the arteries.

    Can anyone discuss this more?

  • Steve I am so glad that you are doing better.I am sure working the craft fair did not help you any at all.Do they have you on a blood thinner? I was on Plavix for 4 1/2 years and my Doc just took me off of it last week. He said that it harms you more being on it for so long. I don't know. But I know I am worried about being off of it. I still take my asprin every morn along with 4 different blood pressure pills and 5 other ones. Not all at one time. I am so glad you are back up on your feet. I hope after High School Football is over I will beable to start back to the meetings.

  • Steve, my husband and I bought a computer from Best Buy and when the Geek Squad set it up, they added some sort of tool bar that caused my computer to freeze up for a week. It was my husband's idea to let them set it up instead of me, even though I am fully aware of how to completely format a computer. Anyway, after several hours of trying to get this computer to power up, I decided to take it to my own Geek! He had it fixed within 10 minutes. Then shortly after that, the CD-ROM drive went out in this new computer. I took it to Geek Squad and when they said I would have to pay, I made it clear that I hadn't had the computer 6 months and was already having problems. I told them I wasn't paying anything and demanded a manager! That word--manager--did the trick. They replaced the drive for free. Needless to say, I will not buy any other kind of technology equipment from them! I understand completely what you went through!!

  • Are you on any of the statins or anything to deal with the cholesterol?

I think they're coming up with new remedies for edema, stenosis and other typical cardiac maladies,

All I know to suggest is to cut back on salt and transfats and eat fibre and anti-oxidant rich things like chocolate, berries and oatmeal.

(That'll keep tartar off your teeth, too.)

As for the pc,you're on your own.

    I'm no techspert.

(Although,I'm pretty sure that hot and sour soup (aka Chinese penicillin) does nothing to help computer viruses.)

I hope you and your machinery feel better soon,

  • May I ask: Who is the Geek Squad????

-- Posted by Wheelbillie on Thu, Oct 23, 2008, at 9:24 PM
  • The Geek Squad is the tech service people at best Buy. If you stand strong like candasons07 mentioned, I believe you can get most things resolved, but I would not bet on their technical expertise. Maybe some, but not many.

I always look for a good reason to eat chocolate. My Mother-in-Law always comes back from the store with dark chocolate for me, and if would let her, she would always have oatmeal for me in the morning.

My cardiologist took me off Plavix about 9 months after my last MI and they are saying right now that I will probably be on it for at least 8 months again. I take Toprol, and an aspirin, as well as one Lisinopril.

I used to be on 10 mg Lipitor but after one heart attach they jumped it to 80 mg. I could not handle it and had to stop all statins, but they have me on 20 mg again and I will see if I can take it.

  • Good gracious Steve!

Thou must taketh care of thyself!

On the other note: I'm anti-Best Buy since they wouldn't take my brothers computer monitor back. He died within their 14 day return period, but I didn't get it back to them in that time frame. argh!

  • mmp84-That is so sad and terrible. If that is the way they are then I will never go to them either.

  • I used to like Best Buy. They certainly have a great selection, but service has slipped in flexibility and quality. I had a lady in Hickory Hollow bend the rules to get me a fair solution some years back but lately my luck has not been so good.

So that opens an interesting question I will open a new blog about. Where does one get good selection, prices and service these days on tech stuff? The reason for a new blog is many may not look at this one when think tech so they will never see the question.

  • i went to bestbuy to get a computer only. I do all my own work. I will not let Geek Squad touch it. they wanted to charge me 100.00 + for the service.

    no way.

I fix computers myself and help the "average joe" out in understanding the comuter and such. Unscrupulous computer people can take advantage of people that do not know what to do, which is wrong...

As mechanics on autos do too....

    oh well.

I am happy you got the laptop fixed, did you find out what got spilled??

    -- Posted by 4fabfelines on Sun, Oct 26, 2008, at 3:59 PM
  • It seemed like water and I am pretty sure it was not spilled ON the keyboard, but there was enough on the bottom to have wicked up.

Coincidentally the screw that holds the keyboard from the bottom was exactly underneath the "F" key. I think it wicked up the screw.
