Where does one get good selection, prices and service these days on tech stuff?Posted Friday, October 24, 2008, at 9:54 AM
This question evolved from another post and I thought it might deserve its' own discussion. Some of us are disenchanted with Best Buy and CompUSA is history now, so where does one go for good selection, price AND service?
Maybe it is not able to be found in one package anymore (if it ever was) but at least during the warranty period it would be nice if the store we bought it from was a good option. I know we have techies out there who are good service folks, but I see them as solutions after the initial purchase. Maybe I am wrong, so let's explore. Maybe paying $100-200 more for a computer from a smaller, local store is actually saving money when you consider driving, time and lack of good service when you need help. Steve Mills and his wife have one daughter and live on a farm outside of Bell Buckle. They previously owned two coffee/ice cream shops, currently operate an internet sales company and teach classes, but his primary job involves the paper industry worldwide. Hobbies and interests lie in gardening, photography, recorded music and of course, their pets.

I now provide computer service Monday - Friday 9-5. (931)639-2636
Locally? Preferred Computer Solutions.
Online? Zipzoomfly.com or Frys.com
Newegg.com is really good too, but you have to pay tax.
Does Computer solutions make their own computers, or....
Not sure, I buy parts from them or if I don't have time to deal with something of mine; I take it to them.
I know the owner(s) of Preferred Computer Solutions.... VERY honest people, who perform quality work. Definitely take your stuff there.. I believe it located on North Jefferson Street (Hoodlum Alley).
This makes me wish I had not retired from the business.
People come out of retirement all the time?
i love ebay for some parts. Newegg.com for new stuff.
oh i bought a fantastick laptop for my husband at bestbuy last month, i looked online first and found the closeouts..

But you pay 10% more for everything because of taxes.

There is no reason to hate Vista. If you are a home user and use your computer for web browsing and e-mail, Vista is a good choice because of its User Account Control system which is absent in XP.
