Howdy Hey Neighbors. Weed'em & Reap Garden Club tonight!

Posted Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 10:30 AM

We meet in Shelbyville, TN at the Hong Kong Restaurant on Madison Street.

We drift in around 6:30 if we are going to eat (buffet or order) and start our meeting at 7:00 in the back room. You don't have to eat, don't have to bring anything but yourselves and an interest in growing things.

That doesn't mean you have to have experience, just an interest.

Got kids? You live with them and so can we. We have a little closet.... just kidding. We are relaxed enough to adjust, so don't let that be a reason to miss the meeting. The owner's son Eric likes to come in and sneak up behind me several times during the meeting. That has not stoped out meeting yet.

If we have enough kids and interest, we could have a meeting dedicated to children in the garden. What plants get their interest, indoor projects, planning the layout of a youth garden etc. It's all fun, so lets us know.

In fact, that may be a good subject for discussion tonight. For more info and garden gleanings go to http://www.mybedfordcounty.com/Weedemand...

Another great meeting. Sharon, good to see you back.

We covered a lot of things and some new websites to explore. I will post the whole report on our page in the next day or two. Still have some 'honey-do's.

Alicia and Lucretia brought us up-to-date on our tentative project.

We have been invited to have our next meeting at another site. The details are not firmed up yet, so watch the blog and out page for more information.

Glad to be there!!

q-cat, Starr gave us a good scare last night, her breathing became really labored so she is back for a stay at the vet. He said she was doing better this morning, he stayed with her most of the night. Dr. Harris is the best! Anyway, prayers and good wishes sent her way will be appreciated!

Sorry to hear about Starr. I am sure that many of us understand the feelings you are going through with her illness. Our payers are certainly with you.

Thanks, They called and said her little heart may have been affected. She's 14. They put her on some meds and are going to monitor her throughout the day.

Don't get toooo pessimistic.

These old gals can surprise you.

I've had pets pass away that we didn't think were that bad off but I had one cat and one dog that lived more than a decade after they were diagnosed with terminal illnesses.

In both cases, their ailments failed to go beyond that first, scary period and they wound up dying of other causes when their time came.

I think we all go when God is ready to take us home but,in the meantime,I figure great medical care,a lot of love from friends and family and just being too busy (and stubborn) to die helps overcome illness and injury and keeps the patient going.

I'm going to keep up the good thoughts for Starr.

(You'll know when you'd be prolonging death versus prolonging her life.)

As she's a Jack Russell, she may get partway across the Rainbow Bridge then start doing do-nuts in the middle and race her gold chariot right back home to you.

thanks for the good wishes!

Starr is at home and is on several meds. She's weak, but still has her spirit. She growled at one of the others when he slipped in to see her this morning. He got a spanking and I swear she smirked at him. No wonder she got in the predicament she's in!

Always good to have a feisty attitude when fighting illness.
