Another family member leaves

Smokie Mokie

Smokie was adopted about 10 years ago when one of our elderly friends had to move back North to live with her family. He was never a real active cat and ended up being quite the "Garfield" stereotype.

No sad story here. He lived a good life, but we will miss him.

Thanks. Unlike our young Cooper, Smokie had a chance to live his life. Since we can't solve immortality, that is the best that we can do.

Actually, as I grow older, with more aches and pains, immortality might not be all that good since we have a reward to which many of us aspire to reach.

You have my sympathies, Steve. My Tasha was a brown tabby just like Smokie and I still miss her fiercely.

So sorry...sympathies and hugs for your loss. Whenever I'm out in the yard, I always think that butterflies are my pets coming for a visit.

Sorry for your loss, my sympathies to you and your family. Know that you gave him a good life and that he has given you good memories.

I am glad God blessed you with such a good friend.

We have had several love kitties and have a pet semetary on our land.

We still have four cats and two... no...maybe three dogs.

We are trying to find a home for our newest 'arrival'.

Deb and I were just saying today that our pet cemetery is getting so large we will have to write a new deed.

You have my condolences on Smokie Mokie's departure.

He enjoyed a long and full life and knew he was loved.

No one could ask for more.

We put our last pet angel into a half barrel of potting soil until the ground was soft enough to bury him.

He's still there waiting to nurture the spring plants set out on top.

(As he would lay on top of flowers,turnabout seems appropriate.)

We may bury him in the traditional way later but for people who may move and don't have many animal companions,a home in a cremation urn or a potted plant could be a good alternative to placing smaller pets into a pet cemetary on one's property.

Perhaps,the part of him that counts is batting stars across the firmament,teaching friends like Smokie Mokie,Cooper,Schmutzen,Bat Maru and Patches how to swipe loose feathers from the cherubim and asking Aslan what it was like to step down from being the Lion of Judah and become human.

They previously owned two coffee/ice cream shops, currently operate an internet sales company and teach classes, but his primary job involves the paper industry worldwide.
