I can't complain about not getting any rain, but have you seen the temperature forecast for Monday? Patience grasshoppers. Our time will come to set things out in the garden but if they can not withstand a frost, keep them inside.
Speaking of grasshoppers, I saw my first green locust today, BEFORE the rains set in. They are not usually a problem so I don't mind sharing a little.
Last year I started some peppermint from seed. Not too many actually germinated but I did get a plant or two. I decided to plant it at the edge of our rock patio because I thought it could be controlled there, between the goldfish pond and the rocks.
WOW! It has taken off! I wanted some creeping thyme to plant between the rocks, but peppermint might become the plant by default.
I held off making any comments about the White House Victory Garden but a recent response from the chemical and genetic seed producers has broken my silence. I will not bore you with it here, but if you are interested in the developments go to http://mybedfordcounty.com/Gardenpulpit.html
I hope all have avoided the violent weather today. We have some more coming, so please watch it carefully.
