Oh Hail. Ouch!

I collected, Deb took the photo

It looked like someone was practicing golf in our yard today. There might have been bigger ones, but this one landed close enough to the door that I chanced going to get it with a book over my head.

By the time we picked a bowl of them they were melting but they were still impressive.

I can't figure out if the piece sticking out was attached to something bigger, or why it formed that way.
