Mr. Elkins -- Until we meet againPosted Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 5:22 PM
There are many folks who knew Mr. James Elkins better than I, but in the far too few years I have known him I can say without any hesitation that he exemplified the best in human kindness, commitment to the community, his church and family. I am not the best person to eulogize him, but hopefully others can use this forum to do so.
The community paid their respects last night and today in truly respectful manner that reflects the love and caring they had for this military, as well as community patriot. If you can, watch the video clip here on the news page of the T-G by Mary Reeves. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
Steve Mills and his wife have one daughter and live on a farm outside of Bell Buckle. They previously owned two coffee/ice cream shops, currently operate an internet sales company and teach classes, but his primary job involves the paper industry worldwide. Hobbies and interests lie in gardening, photography, recorded music and of course, their pets.

Steve...Mary's video is also available on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAv5q7heg... ...picture image is about 100% larger than the T-G clip. I've known James & Dorothy for well over 50 years...they're both the genuine article, as Mary's front-pager reflected yesterday. Rest in peace, my Friend...
All of our videos can be watched at our site or you can click through to the YouTube site. However, please note the image is larger on the story page ( in this case, http://www.t-g.com/story/1537372.html ) than it is on the player on the main t-g.com page.
wow, His funeral reminded me of my fathers funeral.
Great people are hard to find sometimes...heaven gained a great person it looks like.
WE'll pray for his widow.
Dorothy is strong in faith and seems to be cut from the same mold as James. She certainly has support from many loving friends but extra prayers should always be welcome.
Yes, Dorothy is an amazing woman herself and I am glad I had the pleasure in getting to know her and James.

What a wonderful pair of beautiful people.
James helped me get my 50 year old tractor running just a week before he went to the hospital. God Bless them both for all their sweetness.
