  • cherokee2, your garden is coming within the next day or two. Just as Richard's is an inspiration to those of us who have flat land, space and equipment, yours is inspiration for those who have little space, or equipment with which to garden. I intend to get a few more bales to experiment with myself.

  • We began harvesting broccoli this week. The monsoon rains we had have caused some bad spots in the middle of the heads. I cut the heads up as I wash them before blanching. Knock on wood but until this past week I have not had to spray for cabbage loopers, but saw some evidence of feeding on a cabbage head, so I mixed up a batch of Dipel and sprayed the crops.

  • I hate to find them inside my cabbage. Even worse when I miss them and find them in the water.

We ate our first artichoke yesterday. It was good but for all the trouble, I am not sure it was worth it.
