Garden club meeting at NEW location next weekPosted Friday, August 14, 2009, at 2:10 PM
We are trying to spread our business around again and will meet this next time (August 21, 2009) at Richard's Cafeteria on Lane Parkway in Shelbyville. In case you don't know where they are there is a link to the address and phone number on our webpage. www.mybedfordcounty.com/weedemandreap.ht...
No problem with our current location, just want to visit other places as well. Do you have one we should consider?
We will be starting around 6:30 and you will find us in the back meeting room, past the buffet, on the left. We need to be wrapping up by 8:00-ish so we may not hang around as long as usual.
Is anyone's Cypress vine flowering a lot yet? Mine has grown like crazy but the hummingbirds are getting up a petition about the number of actual blooms. I don't remember them being this late before.
Chinese greens have re-seeded and we are eating our first batch tonight. That reminds me that I have to get the green beans in tonight or let them become dried beans. Might be too late already.
A fall crop of sugar snap peas, snow peas and edamame (soybeans are coming along nicely. The heavy rains have help them but beat up my corn. I'm trying another crop of beets and carrots, but they are slooww.
What else are you putting in this fall? Anyone have ripened figs yet? Ours are paying too much attention to the Cypress Vine. Fig see, fig do. Well, maybe that is not the saying, but......
Oh yes, I've updated our garden gleanings page. www.mybedfordcounty.com/gardengleanings....
