Weed'em & Rap Garden Club meeting this Friday, 16th

Posted Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at 4:31 PM

Somehow we missed getting in the paper, so spread the word. We will be at Richard's Cafeteria on Lane Parkway starting about 6:30 and going until 8:00.(closing time)

These folks have been great about giving us a room, so if you can come to enjoy their buffet, I am sure they would appreciate that.

The internet has certainly changed the way I look at gardening news. Just as we are winding down our growing season the folks "down under" are gearing up. I am sure all the other countries south of the equator are doing the same, but I don't know search words for their languages. Of course, I would not understand even if I did get their blogs.

BUT the fall season is still a busy time for outdoor gardeners. Lets talk about what you are doing.

And lets not forget INDOOR gardeners. I keep rooting plants and my wife threatens to make me live with them. Somehow I don't think she is counting those we have inside house. I think she is thinking out in the greenhouse, with the dogs and cats.

I have a class reunion this coming weekend but I'll be with y'all in spirit,at least.

Have fun!

I have to say, I love your typo - "weed'em & rap" it gave me a good laugh. :)

That was a typo???

Here I thought I was going to miss y'all singing "I got hoes in different area codes."

(That *is* about gardening implements,right?)

Or,maybe,Steve was going to show us a slide of that daylily,'Raptor Rap'.

From the VFW planter to "Boston Garden" : That would be an interesting step, indeed.

We might wind up with a few more young rakes attending our meetings.

See what you missed at the meeting? Barbara does a mean impression of .... nah, I better not give away the surprise.

I can get away with that since she only reads the physical paper, so don't any of you tell!

It is turning rather chilly this weekend. While it may not frost, you might want to bring in your houseplants that have been vacationing outside this summer. That means I will be dividing again, so more to give away at the meetings.

We missed you last meeting too QC. Don't be a stranger. Of course, I missed one last month so I can't fuss much, but it is all in good fun.

You were under the weather that night.

I'm glad you're better.

My plants and critters appreciate the heads up.

(I'd turn the standpipe on in the yard so the water wouldn't freeze but one of my little darlings pulled the faucet loose and flooded the place.)

We cut off the outdoor water and let everyone get drinks from dishes we (and God) have been keeping filled.

Too bad we weren't growing rice paddies, catttails, and the like.

Oh,I know Barbara is talented.

Y'all should see some of these gals in Red Hat mode.

Hmmmm, maybe Weed'em and Reap (Rap) should have a Red Hat night.

You have 3 Redhatters that I know of and another prospective member who has looked into the Red Hat groups, too.

Several members of the various local groups are also avid gardeners.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them decided to attend such a Weed 'em and Reap meeting.
