Another interesting twist from eBay. Oh, by the way a little about TRS.

Yesterday eBay launched a new effort to publicize the fashion deals that can be found on the site. With all the legal issues surrounding trademark violations, I am a little surprised, but we will see how it turns out.

Here is a fashion magazine that highlights the most popular fashion items being searched for on the site. http://theinsidesource.com/ . If nothing else, it might be a good way to learn what a good listing for these types of items includes. The VeRO (Verified Rights Owners) is such a minefield for new sellers, I often recommend staying away from it.

If you click on a few things to view in eBay you may see a new "purple box" pop up that says to search by "Top-rated Seller". This is a new effort to identify eBay's more trusted sites but it is not working flawlessly yet, so sometimes you see it and sometimes you don't. Sometimes a seller has it and sometimes they don't. There is no rhyme or reason yet, that we can tell. eBay simply says it is being "phased" in.

Also, it is not totally indicative of an eBayer's quality and dependability. Many that do not have the TRS label are still very good sellers with 100% feedback and high Detailed Seller Ratings. (DSR), so if you click on the filter, you may be limiting your selection and missing good deals from good sellers. Use your mental acuity to analyze them for yourself.

I would imagine that a "Top-rated Seller" by eBay's standard is a seller who is selling much junk and thereby contributing much to eBay's revenue; everybody else, no matter how good they are will be overlooked. What purpose does this standard and the new default search, Best Match, serve other than, ultimately, eBay? Let's face it times are tough for everyone; times are, quite deservedly, absolutely desperate for the team of incompetents presently making the decisions at eBay.

Why is the "eBafia Don" destroying eBay?

Some thoughts on the matter at
