Start of a new week, so maybe you should start something new!Posted Monday, January 11, 2010, at 8:34 AM
Last week at MTBN, but of course the photographer is missing.
Even though I have heard it many times, I am guilty of falling back into doing the same old things with which I am comfortable and constantly have to kick myself in the butt. Well there is a local group that can help me with that while providing me with good fellowship of like-minded folks. An added benefit comes from the little word "local", because it provides me with a network of mini-salespeople to help get the word out about a new business with which I am involved. After I left the food service world many years ago, my audience, (customers) were regional, then USA, then Canada and finally the world. Except for Debbi owning and operating a coffee shop and our daughter being in school, I would have probably disappeared from the local scene. Now that I am in a locally oriented business, I needed to get back out there. A motivational group was an added bonus. The Middle Tennessee Business Network offers me a solution to all my needs. Besides, it is quickly becoming a circle of friends as well. Feel free to contact me and I will pass you on to the leadership, or even better, come to the Shelbyville Parks & Recreation Complex on Thursday mornings at 8:00 AM. The group President Nakai (aloha) Waynick and her governing board keep the meeting moving along and ending at 9:00 AM, although many of us stay around to pursue business conversations with others. If you are too busy to attend, they encourage you to send someone else who knows your business, so that you are always represented. From having attended the original group in Tullahoma, I knew it would be worthwhile, so please check us out. If you are reading this from Manchester, or Winchester area, you have a group forming in your area too. Nakai has the inside scoop. Steve Mills and his wife have one daughter and live on a farm outside of Bell Buckle. They previously owned two coffee/ice cream shops, currently operate an internet sales company and teach classes, but his primary job involves the paper industry worldwide. Hobbies and interests lie in gardening, photography, recorded music and of course, their pets.

I've never finished what I started last week. Well,.... maybe sometimes, but it never seems like it.
It truly is a great group if you have local business interests. At least once a quarter they have a special meeting that brings in an expert from different areas of business.
The last one was a lawyer talking about business law, and before that a social networking specialist to discuss the various ways Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, etc. can help develop your business or even hobby.
What if I haven't finished what I started last week? It does sound interesting and helpful, if you have a business.
