Gee, look what PITA brought in! Such a nice gift for bedtime.Posted Monday, January 18, 2010, at 7:54 AM
Good MLK Monday to you! This may not apply to the headline of the blog, but I wanted to take a brief moment to acknowledge the life of a man who certainly influenced America and the world. I lived during his life and death but never got ca chance to hear his views in person. While I am sure he was a man like all of us, his convictions for Civil Rights has taken us a long way. (to the good)
Anyone who follows my blog knows I often ramble between unrelated topics, so if that drives you crazy, STOP NOW! It is an illness that I can not resolve in one short lifetime. That is why I call the blog Bedford Ramblings.
Maybe it occurs because of the numerous breaks in thought that I experience as I cater to our many pet members. Sophie just came down and HAD TO go out. Kit Kat decided the same thing right after her and now Sammy is wanting back in. It goes not like this most of the day.
The headline talks about our most recent stray family member PITA. Our veterinarian folks love her acronym name, especially when I put the title Royal in front. All things considered, she behaves a little better after her trip ti the vet, but she backslides now and then. Like insisting on going number 2 right where I split wood for the fire. I have improved my splitting force by shouting her name each time I come down with the splitting maul.
Last night Debbi had already gotten in bed and I loaded the fire one last time. It is in our attached greenhouse. I said good night to the dogs and cats out there ad locked up. All was peaceful, but as I was coming back passed the door I notice Royal PITA bouncing around. This was less than 5 minutes after I had been out there.
In that time, she had been outside, grabbed a opossum and brought it inside through the pet door. Excuse me a minute, Pepperz now wants in........Now back to the story. This is a full grown opossum and QUITE ALIVE. Luckily I had my cell phone, so I called Debbi (just upstairs) to run interference for me while I figure out how to remove said opossum, safely (for both of us).
I grabbed a trash can, put it on its' side and ushered Mr/Ms opossum in with a broom. He/She hung on with tail and paw, but finally went to the bottom. I SURE hope it appreciates what we did to save it. Have you ever looked into the mouth of an opossum? Nasty looking teeth.
Oops! The starting bell is about to ring, so got to get ready for work.
By the way, I did not forget Weed'em & Reap. espoontoon reminded me to not conflict with the NFL, so this coming weekend might not be best.
