Weed'em & Reap this coming Friday but WOW do we need to think WARM!Posted Sunday, February 14, 2010, at 6:07 PM
Our cactus look a little out of place in this snow.
Garden club meeting will be at Parkway Cafeteria. Drift in between 6:00 & 6:30. Cathy is the only one to remember her garden catalogs last week. This week I have piled them up by the door (17 so far). I have been holding off starting my Spring plants because PITA (our newest dog) will surely tear them up and I don't want to have blood on my hands, but something has got to give. I may try a temporary cold-frame using the timber sides of a lower, south facing garden and with a compost pile underneath. We have been storing some sliding glass doors for just such an occasion. The seeds will still be started in trays and the compost pile may add a little extra heat. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

I agree, warm thoughts. I'm so tired of the cold, snow, freezing rain and winter in general. I've got some gardening books that I've used over the years that have been helpful, and they can be found on eBay. I've also got some planting guide tables I can print and bring for vegetables.
Seed starting might be a great topic for next meeting. I can develop a slide show and we can discuss what we have learned about the different product, stages, etc.
Thoughts?
