  • "diatomaceous earth" just sounds ... dirty.

  • It's actually off-white. I joked with the salesman that I hope I don't get pulled over with 150 pounds of white powder.

I'll bring some tot he meeting tonight if anyone wants to see what it is.

I will also be bringing a gardening book for a door prize that was published in 1948 and has over 1000 pages.

My chocolate mint was "un-potted" by PITA yesterday but she luckily only demolished the pot, not the plant, so it will be given away with a lemon mint. No one asked for catnip, but if you let me know early enough, I can poit some of that up too.

Oh yes, my wife wants to point out that we are using it on our floors as a preventative, not because we have a lot of bugs. At one time we used to have a problem with fleas, after all we fluctuate from 8-10+ pets at a time. But we have not had that issue for years.

The pets still bring in some ticks, but the ones we don't catch, seem to die on their own, so something is working.

Hope to see everyone at the meeting!

  • I know this probably goes without saying but be VERY careful not to breathe it in. It of course is not poisonous, but acts like tiny shards of glass on the exo-skeletons of parasites, and therefore isn't good at all to breathe in.

We haven't had a single flea around here, and thanks for the tip on cutworms...must put this on my tomatoes. It also gets rid of worms in pets (or humans, for that matter).

Don't let the dust get into your computer area...it will shut a computer down if the dust goes into the fan system.

I got mine from this place after searching all over for it...and like you said, pool grade is NOT what you want to use!

I got mine from this place...the shipping was very reasonable, I have a pretty large bag which will last me a long time. I had to look forever for this, and finally found these people...no one seemed to have heard of it.
