  • I know the police dept here is doing what they can by using Facebook to alert Shelbyville Residents of areas that are bad. Not sure about the County yet. I believe that would be under the EMA?

  • That's creative.

Does anyone have reports of flooded roads they can post here?

I think we have been fortunate compared to North of us, but we are not done yet. I just moved some cars back from a tree line that is getting hit by some strong winds. Ounce of prevention, I hope.

  • One of the interesting things I learned after moving here is that water can come UP through the sink holes and cause flooding too, you don't even have to be on the river to have it cause flooding. I know of a place a mile or two from the river that floods this way.

  • I wish parents could be informed ahead of time (like the day before school starts) of school closings; instead of waiting the morning of school. Preperations of childrens care has to be made and it is always a wait and see in the morning as to where to send them if parents have jobs, or other appointments to tend to.

Their was a Unionville woman that called in on channel 2 news & informed them that El Bethel road has been closed. And that their is flooding water round the unionville schools and the back roads, but not heard anything about the school closings. And was wondering why they haven't heard of any school closings.

  • Anyone with sinks holes in there area need to double check after this rain.

Calling school off is a delicate balance of trying to be safe and satisfy the State & parents. I would probably call too many days off and then end up with problems at the end of the year.
