Re-scheduled Weed'em & Reap this coming Saturday May 8Posted Monday, May 3, 2010, at 9:17 PM
While we did not get the full fury of the storms, we still thought it was better to postpone our get-together. I got to eat Deb's chicken salad and dump cake, so all was not lost.
We will try again this Saturday at 6:00 PM at Celebration Way Assisted Living, 895 Union Street in Shelbyville. It is past the old hospital on the left. I know several of us had plants to share and I will be bringing a vintage garden book with over 1,000 pages to give away as a door prize. It was published over 60 years ago and I believe that this is a second edition, so original was even older. It makes for some interesting reading and even has PICTURES! Steve Mills and his wife have one daughter and live on a farm outside of Bell Buckle. They previously owned two coffee/ice cream shops, currently operate an internet sales company and teach classes, but his primary job involves the paper industry worldwide. Hobbies and interests lie in gardening, photography, recorded music and of course, their pets.

I'll be bringing lots of plants. I'll have a tray of tomatos, so maybe someone can bring some pots to put them in?
I am getting thousands of questions about the book, so here is the info: "America's Garden Book" originally copyrighted in 1939, this version printed in 1948. Louise Bush-Brown and James Bush-Brown.
I find it interesting that they both hyphenated their name. Wonder what the story is on that.
Last page count is 1241. Green Hardcover. Binding in good shape but pages are a bit yellowed with age. In researching this, I found other reprints up into the 90's so it has some enduring features.
I know, it sounds as if I am writing an eBay listing, but I can't help myself, and maybe it was not thousands of inquiries, but I did get one!
