A long-needed improvement for checking eBay feedback

Posted Monday, June 14, 2010, at 9:51 PM

Those of you who use the feedback pages to check out the reputation of sellers you are considering, (everyone should be doing this) know how frustrating and time consuming it is to look at neutrals or negatives in a seller's feedback record. especially if they have many pages.

You might still willing to buy from them if the negative/neutral seemed unfair or the solution was reasonable. Uh-ohs do happen and if the seller corrected the issue, responded with a reasonable answer or it was long ago, they still can earn your business.

eBay is rolling out a new search filter so you can find those negatives and neutrals quickly. http://announcements.ebay.com/2010/06/fe...

Ebay sellers are telling me that ebay considers anything less than 5 stars on seller's feedback as negative feedback.

Sometimes you just can't be happy about everything, but why should the seller get negative feedback if the UPS, USPS or Fedex screws up the delivery or even damages the item?

These seller ask me to always contact them first before sending feedback if I am NOT happy with my order, so they can make it right, if necessary, and get a good feedback.

I have no problem with that method!

eBay has become obsessed with some of their feedback policies. While it is not a full negative, anything less than 5 stars will chip away at the sellers discounts, their search standings and their designation as a TRS Top Rated Seller.

I am not happy with the way they educate the buyer, phrase their questions nor the weight they put on something that is out of our control.

I will comment more but I have a meeting to make. Probably Sunday.
