Are you ready for Shelbyville's 200th birthday party?Posted Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 1:44 PM
What, you STILL have not heard about it?
Go the the square in beautiful downtown Shelbyville, TN around 9:00 A.M. this coming Saturday and you might find someone who can fill you in. If you have kids in your group be sure to stick around to at least 11:00 A.M. for some special games to teach and enjoy. Better yet, just plan to spend the whole day 'cause I understand the merchants and town will be rollin' out the red carpet. I've heard some celebrity names will be there and most are just too good to be true! ;-) That's supposed to be a wink, in case your eyes are like mine. They previously owned two coffee/ice cream shops, currently operate an internet sales company and teach classes, but his primary job involves the paper industry worldwide. Hobbies and interests lie in gardening, photography, recorded music and of course, their pets.

If you are still trying to decide about stopping by, just say yes. I spent a few hours this morning and wish I could have spent more. Friends, neighbors and lots of friendly strangers.
Even though I am not a "car addict" I enjoyed looking at cars from my youth as well as cars that I could understand. The older cars were run by us and I felt in charge. Now the cars seem to run us and I am close to helpless if it goes past oil changes and minor maintenance.
