Are you ready for Shelbyville's 200th birthday party?

Posted Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 1:44 PM

What, you STILL have not heard about it?

Go the the square in beautiful downtown Shelbyville, TN around 9:00 A.M. this coming Saturday and you might find someone who can fill you in.

If you have kids in your group be sure to stick around to at least 11:00 A.M. for some special games to teach and enjoy. Better yet, just plan to spend the whole day 'cause I understand the merchants and town will be rollin' out the red carpet.

I've heard some celebrity names will be there and most are just too good to be true! ;-) That's supposed to be a wink, in case your eyes are like mine.

If you are still trying to decide about stopping by, just say yes. I spent a few hours this morning and wish I could have spent more. Friends, neighbors and lots of friendly strangers.

Even though I am not a "car addict" I enjoyed looking at cars from my youth as well as cars that I could understand. The older cars were run by us and I felt in charge. Now the cars seem to run us and I am close to helpless if it goes past oil changes and minor maintenance.
