Please note that those who post comments on this website may do so using a screen name, which may or may not reflect a website user's actual name. • I know a lot of crafters are using facebook to promote their etsy shops, and are finding that it's bringing them more business - using that as a model, I don't see why it wouldn't hold true for local businesses.

  • Got some ideas to work on with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. YouTube is another opportunity of which I am not taking advantage. Searching for "how to" videos seems to be their number one search. Sounds like a good opportunity.

  • I guess that depends on the level of expertise about the subject you choose. If I were teaching on how to use YouTube, it would definitely apply. If I taught about eBay or gardening, I might have some value to offer.

My weakness is not knowing the technology/venue/platform well enough to get the most from it.

  • Youtube how-to videos are pretty popular - I've used them when trying to figure out how to sew something (like zippers) and a friend of mine is currently using them to learn gourmet cooking.

  • The variety of topics is immense, the quality varies greatly and of course my favorite one I go back to frequently is Weird Al Yankovic

  • Now that is one I would not have thought about, but now that you mention it, I wonder if there is any way they could organize all the topics?

I have watched a few on cleaning records. What else have you folks watched?

  • Hi Steve,

First, let me just say that Face book is a GREAT way to bring folks in to whatever business that you are in.

Whiteside UMC is a small church here in Shelbyville and we are on Facebook. It amazes me every time I get on there to see just how many "fans" we have and most of them do not attend our church.

Our "fans" are scattered all across the U.S. -From Denver,Dallas,Key West,The Carolina's...

The funny thing is, We now have as many people following us on Facebook as we have in the pews on Sunday mornings.

We actually have two pages. One is to promote the church and the other is for our facebook group.

I highly recommend getting started with this kind of outreach no matter if its for a church or a business.
