Last Garden club meeting of the year this coming Frdiay, 19thPosted Monday, November 15, 2010, at 8:13 PM
Not ready to call it quits yet. Neither is the dandelion.
Our mints are still looking good and the Datura you gave us espoontoon does not know when to quit. I have numerous seed pods but I think I will cut it back and see if I can have the same luck you did with it coming back this Spring. Drab rainy days like today gives me time to get caught up on our inside plants. Today I divided and re-planted some jade plant, scented geranium, and re-potted a chrysanthemum Deb's mother won at a Chamber coffee. Looking around me, I have plenty to keep me busy for a few weeks, at least. This Friday is our last garden club meeting until Friday, January 21. We arrive between 6:00 PM and 6:30 and try to get "down to business" (garden business) by 6:30. Our host for the last few months has been Celebration Assisted Living and we truly appreciate their hospitality. We can talk about putting our gardens to bed for the winter or caring for indoor plants and flowers. For example, our African violets seem to flower year round, but they need to be re-potted, preened and revitalized. Some plants need to get a rest and winter is the natural time. Steve Mills and his wife have one daughter and live on a farm outside of Bell Buckle. They previously owned two coffee/ice cream shops, currently operate an internet sales company and teach classes, but his primary job involves the paper industry worldwide. Hobbies and interests lie in gardening, photography, recorded music and of course, their pets.

Schuling translates to scheduling.
Our dear, loving, adorable PITA has struck again. I came out wto days ago to find a trail of pitting mix going out the greenhouse door, found the pot and eventually the plants that were in the pot.
Brought them back inside them back inside and found them on the floor again this morning. I did not have to yell, call PITA's name or do anything more than stand there looking at the mess to make PITA drop her head and exit the greenhouse.
She KNOWS she did wrong but seems driven to do it again. Anyone with ideas? I take no pleasure from shouting or using a rubber hose on her bottom. On occasion I attach a log chain to her collar so she can not move around, but she is learning how to escape from that and it has not stopped her from her path of destruction.
I made the mistake of chaining one of our strays to a dog house that did not move one time. She ran and snapped back at the end of the chain so hard that I was afraid she would break her neck. The log chain slows her down but does not come to a sudden stop.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
For those who know I had a schuling conflict on Friday, I am now clear to be there so I will be bringing some of those jade plant division and may make cuttings of aloe, two decorative begonias and another type of jade/succulent plant
They grow slow,especially when we have such great hopes. In winter especially, water carefully.
I have other V that need to be re-worked so I will probably start some new ones soon.
Talking about African violets...the starts you gave me are growing a little. Yay! Keeping my fingers crossed.
