Brandy needs a loving family

Posted Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 6:52 PM

Miss Brandy needs a loving home.
I got this e-mail today through a network of volunteers with the SBCHA. This is probably the situation that brought Sofie to us and she has been a real blessing for several years.

"This is the Shihtzu named Brandy, 12 years old who needs a new home. Her owners are both having severe health problems and are unable to care for her any longer. She is very friendly and good natured. She has had a standing appointment at a local groomer for years and that groomer said she is a great dog and she never had a problems with her. Brandy is up to date on shots, has her own bed, clothes and jewelry. She is use to other dogs and until now has lived with two other Shihtzus. The couple were able to find homes for them, but because of time constraints could not find one for Brandy and asked the Humane to help them. She is now being boarded until a foster or adoptive home can be found.

Brandy has been checked by a local vet and has been found to be in relatively good health. Her eyes show normal deterioration for her age; she has a very noticeable under-bite, but her teeth or pretty good; everything else checked out okay. Please pass this around in hopes that we might find her a home to live out her years or an appropriate foster."

Our Sofie came to us after a lifetime with someone else. She even has an underbite like Brandy.

We always groan when another pet arrives at our door but Sofie has really been a blessing. ALthough I am not the one who usually feeds her, she follows me like a shadow and is in her bed next to my feet right now.

While she has learned a little patience to see if I am really going somewhere or just getting something, she follows me everywhere.

She LOVES to ride with us and took a trip to the Washington D.C. area in September. No problems whatsoever. A mature dog can be a great companion.

If someone adopts Brandy, they are not only helping her and giving peace to the ailing couple, they will also find that they have enriched their own life as well.
