Some good conversation among hardy enthusiasts who braved the cold and ice at our first meeting of the year. We all agreed it was hard to think green on a night like last night but once we got started, it came pretty easy.
Next meeting, February 4th, we will have discussion by jbillswms about planting your seeds in the middle of winter. What was the terminology? Oh yes, The term is "wintersowing", sowing in containers outside in the snow and rain. ( had to have jbillswms remind me)
We will also continue our conversation of seed starting a more conventional way with recycled pots, soil blocks, seed catalogs etc. Some may want to combine orders, while other will share later.
I talked to a brother who's temperature dipped to minus 7 degrees last night. That helps me feel warmer and I hear that the trade winds have shifted further North so maybe our our severe cold is changing. Our first daffodils are emerging, and they know something, but ....
