Quest for the first daffodil. Do you have it?Posted Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at 8:49 AM
the 'Daffys' are up with bulging heads but no real flower yet. Anyone have one?
I had yellow showing through on one but PITA decided it needed incubation so she laid on it. I can't count a smushed flower head as a true flower, so...who has them? Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |

My are up and looking pretty. I think even my doubles will bloom pretty this year.
Ahah! You have those hearty Daffs. I have a brother in New Jersey who grows over 100 varieties, but I don't think he has seen any yet. I don't know how much snow is left on the ground but they might hae to grow tall for him to see them.
I need to check.
Steve the snow was Sunday night, in Michigan.
Boy, I am starting to get envious. We STILL do not have our first one. Of course we are in the high elevations of Bedford County. (well sort of high)
I saw mine Friday afternoon... got a pic posted on facebook yesterday
Seeing them poking up through the snow can really warm you up when you need it most. What was the date on that snow?
I would guess all of you folk's daffodils are Southern facing, maybe protected in a micro climate?
Mine are in bloom too. They started coming up last week, and were in bloom by Friday.
I found my first one open behind the well house, the same day my brother reported waking up to 11 inches of fresh snow....... They say variety is the spice of life, this countries weather sure can be spicy.
Mine were in full bloom thursday February 17
my daffodils were in full bloom saturday. unfortunately i didnt get home before dark any day last week, so i am not sure when they were first opening.
