Meeting held, Weed'em & Reap at new place 7:00 p.m.

Posted Friday, March 4, 2011, at 6:22 AM

I am sure it is on top of everyone's social calendar, but maybe just a little reminder that we will be meeting at New Century Chinese Restaurant 510 Madison Street, in Shelbyville. (The old Shoney's)

Come as early as you like to enjoy the buffet. We will start the actual meeting at 7:00 but don't skip if you are a little late, we are very informal.

The main topic is the different styles of gardening, like traditional tilled gardens, raised bed, containers, hydroponics. etc., but as I was listing these I realized there were many more descriptive terms that some may not understand, so I added about 25 more terms for discussion.

An example of these would be cold frame, lasagna method, hot bed, bio-dynamic, extended season, edible landscaping, intensive, etc., etc., etc. Maybe you have a term or two we need to hear and learn about?

We will wrap up between 8:00 and 8:30. Hope to see you there!

I want to be there, but not sure if I can make it yet. I've got a sinus infection, and couldn't get a Dr. appointment until Monday.

I planted a couple of Mexican Flame vines ealier this week and have some Chillean Glory Vine seeds coming this way. If I can get them to germinate, I'll share. I'd like to try to get more seeds started this weekend...I'll see how my energy level is for that.

Pray for no hard frosts!

I gotta miss it again this week, hubby needs my car. But we'll get back into it, eventually, lol!

espoontoon, I played a doctor once in a play and I have had MANY sinus infections. Not sure how that helps my friend, but don't let it get worse.

craftin-mom, I've never run a taxi service, but we have taxied many a friend to and fro (where does that saying come from? Fro?) Anyway, if you are close, maybe we could pick you up.

Doing with a garden club meeting is extreme suffering.

Great meeting folks. Even though we were all experienced gardeners, I believe we can all say without a doubt that we learned something. The time went really fast and before we knew it, it was 8:30 and we HAD to shut down. That is how it should be.

We were missing 'newbies' and this is one meeting I think that those absent lost out. Sorry you could not make it.

We had to end so abruptly that we did not set the topics for next meeting. We will take care of that over the next week and get back to you.
