What do you suppose eBay's motivation is for the 1 cent auctions?Posted Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at 11:02 PM
I am curious what you think might be eBay's reasons for running 1 cent sales on auction listings. They have done it three times lately (usually with just overnight notice).
At first I thought they were wanting to bolster auction sales, but with the short notices I wonder if they are trying to limit how many you can get on. Is it just to get attention or....? Using Turbo Lister we were able to get a little over 100 on last time and this time 116. That means we saved almost $28 in listing fees, so it was worth a shot. Any thoughts or opinions? I seen this done on another website auction. It is what makes it what it is. They claim you can buy cheaper faster on their site.
I tried it once, but was outbid with every bid I made. I had no intentions of paying a high price so I dropped out.
I think eBay is giving it a spin. I predict it will slow up the sell of your items tremendously and make sellers lose money.
This is just the listing fee. It is not one of those penny auction sites.
You are right to question these. I looked at them a while back and did not get a good feeling. Now I hear it is a form of gambling and only a few really come out a winner.
