Great garden meeting this past Friday.Posted Sunday, October 2, 2011, at 8:02 AM
Our youngest Weed'em & Reap club member inspecting the new garden
Our youngest member came after a hard day of working in their new garden. As you can see from the picture, he likes to get in there deep. His big brother had his hands full watching him at the meeting, so I know they are both hard workers. Plenty of discussions and our tables was filled with swap plants, seeds and even a HUGE garden book donated by Ruby as our drawing prize. It was full of color photos and knowing the person who won it, she will have many hours of enjoyment from it. Folks went home with chrysanthemums, Thai Pepper seeds, cactus, avocado plants, Chinese bamboo, variegated pothos vine, airplane plant and hostas, but I have probably missed something, so speak up. I was pleased that we had some requests for variegated airplane,(spider) plants 'cause I have a few extra. I'll try to remember to bring those along with Aloe vera and a few others. So, how hot was that Thai pepper? Haha!
Honstly, it was still sitting on my desk, but I took a teenie weenie bite off the tip and it was not bad.
Now I squeezed the seeds out and put the seedless pepper in my mouth. It is not in my mouth any more.
I felt the heat and decided if I wanted to enjoy my food for the next day, I should get it out.
The roof of my mouth is numb but tolerable. I just need to make sure I wash my fingers NOW!
I would say it is HOT!
Told ya it was a bit spicy, lol~
Yeah, definitely wash your hands-twice! Maybe three times.
I haven't messed with hot peppers for a couple of years due to washing my hands just once. I don't want to go into details, but OUCH!
I think your mention of it at a garden club meeting ran through my head when I was squishing the pepper. I seemed to escape the wrath.
Did you escape the frost? Last night was chilly.
I had already brought in my ferns and other plants I wanted to try to save, so the frost hadn't affected me. I haven't checked my father in law's sweet 100's. I'm sure they're probably done by now. Now to collect 2 liter bottles to try my hand at winter sowing after Christmas.
So you had a frost? We were close but I did not see any on our plants or lawn this morning.
Oh, I didn't check to see if we had frost, the sun was already up and warming up before I poked my head out the door. Sorry if I mislead you. I just assumed it did frost a bit somewhere.
It was close, but as far as I can tell, no frost...
Good. This weekend looks like a great one for getting things ready for the cold to come.
Are we meeting again tonight, or is the next meeting next week? I'll probably miss the meeting next week, I'll be taking the better half out for his birthday. I think he likes Asian food, so ya'll may see us there, just not talking about plants :D
Sorry to say, it is next week. If we see you, we'll try not to 'bug' you too much. AND, if you are done eating before us, feel free to 'drop in'.
