Growing catnip inside, and hydroponic VENDING MACHINES?Posted Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 12:11 PM
Pepperz enjoying her catnip and a nap. See the little green behind her ear? Rosemary on the left.
Well... it is hard to say, since often we can not see the catnip for the cats sleeping on it! If it does not survive, it will probably be smothered. And from the world of technology, how about a vending machine that grows and dispenses lettuce, herbs, other salad plants, etc.? See for yourself: http://hydroponicsguide.co.uk/0059/hydro... By the way, the LAST Weed'em and Reap garden club meeting of the year is coming up NEXT week. (11-11-11) I just noticed the unique date. May be an extra special meeting?
I want to get the notice in early, but don't confuse the comment to think it is this week.
I wonder how long until that machine is co-opted for use in certain types of dispensaries in California?
I agree, California will probably get it first, if it is not there already.
Sounds like Star-Trek technology too!
That is so cute! I had catnip growing in barrels/planters in my cat sanctuary but Rupert my cat smashed it.
There was a Canadian show that aired for a while on Cooking Channel called "Food Jammers" -- it's hard to describe, but it had these three young men who would build various crazy food-related contraptions, like creating their own homemade soda flavors and rigging a dispenser in the living room, with tubes running into a spare fridge where the soda tanks were kept.
Anyway, one of my favorite contraptions was a taco vending machine. They designed a setup that would build a taco at the punch of a button -- warming up the shell, dispensing beef, cheese and other toppings into it. Completely and utterly impractical, but fun to watch and think about.
I don't know John, it could become the next rage. Weren't vending machine dining rooms big at one time in the "big cities"?
Or maybe that was another life. Oh well.
I was expecting some grazing of the catnip, but not sleeping in it. Maybe it will adapt as a low growing version.
Maybe before the next hard frost I will move another plant into a smaller pot. One they can't jump in.
Taco building machine sounds pretty cool and totally a bachelor thing.
Do you have any of the upside down planters you could could grow the nip in?
Interesting thought. No to having a regular planter but I might have something I can adapt.
At least then they would be swinging from the ceiling instead of sleeping on it. I have some extra room that I can hang in the greenhouse and I do not let that get below 40-50, so....
