Their future is our future.Posted Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 11:03 AM
We are remembering the past today with Pearl Harbor so it is also appropriate to look to the future.
Chamber members received an e-mail yesterday about a new effort to invest in our future. "The Bedford County Board of Education has launched "Their Future is Our Future" Program to promote a 100% Graduation Rate in Bedford County Schools."
"You are invited to the Kickoff, Monday, December 12, 2011 in the Shelbyville Central High School Theater, 6:00-7:45 p.m."
It is an effort to encourage local employers to support students who are working for them with more than just their hourly pay.
If I understand it correctly, they want employers to become "cheerleaders" for these students to complete their High School education and to help them whenever possible with flexible schedules,or just moral support.
If someone associated with this program reads this, we would REALLY appreciate your input and information. I know a number of folks will address those coming to the meeting, but more information will help encourage more participation.
