eBay starting some new videos about real users

Posted Friday, December 30, 2011, at 2:47 PM

eBay seemed to be growing towards the "big box" stores over the past few years and while they never really lost sight of the smaller sellers, it sure felt like it.

I think they are starting to return to their roots a little more and they wanted the new sellers to know of the success available throug the sellking venue.

While the video production is professional, these folks are not actors and tell their own story in a way that feels comfortable to many. See what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxc3zYMCq...

I have about 80+ items on Bonanza again, but so far eBay is the one that continues to produce. The last time I had inventory on here it was still known as Bonanzle, but it was not succesful then either.

Too bad though, it is a fun site to work with and relatively easy, just different from eBay. Some say they do well there so it may be category specific or you have to build traffic yourself.

I am also trying eCrater but same results as Bonanza. I do not have as many items on there and it is not quite as user-friendly but I have seen some success in our category, so I will probably continue for a while.

The only reason eBay is giving a second thought to "small" sellers is because the eBay marketplace has been literally stagnant since the Pain from Bain took the helm in 2007, and the national brands that this turkey has attempted to attract have done no more than fill the hole in GMV that he himself created. Frankly, I think they are getting particularly desperate to come up with new ways to steal a few more pennies from their users ...

And, just for a laugh, some analyses of PayPal's "The New Way To Pay In-Store", PayPal Digital Wallet, PayPal Debit MasterCard, PayPal Here, PayPal Local and Watch With eBay ...
