Black eye peas, ham, potatoes and here is a curve ball for you, herring. It could be creamed or pickled but cream is the only one we find easily in the markets around here.
Deb's Mom says she remembers meatless dished on New Year's Eve but not sure of food for the New Year's day. Of course, she also celebrates a second New Year but I can not remember anything special for that either.
