Go away for a few days and someone leaves the freezer door open!!Posted Sunday, February 12, 2012, at 12:04 PM
It may be a small comfort but even the folks in South Texas are dealing with cold. Of course, not what we have but....cold to them.
While there, I watched cool weather crops being harvested, talked gardening and even got some fresh tangerines straight off a backyard tree. I never knew those trees had thorns, yikes! Got back in time for a feverish rush to bring in more wood and never got the wood heat high enough to keep the back-up heat from coming on. We used some gas! Darn! I also had to throw the glass windows on the cold frame. I have not checked if there was any damage yet, but will right after I finish this post. It looks beautiful out there and would not be bad if the nights did not dip down so low. Oh well Virginia, I guess there is such a thing as Winter. An interesting article for home gardeners. If they do disappear life will get serious.
