Saturday morning, April 21st, 8:00 AM, on the Square, we are going to play in the dirt and mulch.

Posted Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 6:52 AM

All things are in place for a fun work party. If you can't physically help, maybe bring some drinks or snacks and if not that, just come to be with us.

We are going to rough up the soil, then place some well rotted mulch, as much as we can carry and unload in a few hours.

Once this is in place, we can start planting in a more relaxed pace until we have the garden populated and lookin' good.

The project went well. Thanks to all who came.

We spread a good 5-6 " of dark, rich mulch on top of the roughed up soil so we are now ready to shape the beds and start some planting.

Our area of responsibility is a lot larger than we originally planned, but we are up to it.

A large scoop of clay was picked up in the mulch and has become the creative project for several of our members to shape it into something special for the garden.

I heard Raku pottery, a large planting pot or maybe some flat, shaped stone stepping stones. With the ideas flowing, there is no telling what will develop. I really like the idea of creating something form our local clay.

We also sourced some cedar stumps being brought in for landscaping texture.
