Pocket garden on the square got a few additons today

Posted Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 7:55 PM

At least three members got together this morning and added, clematis, peonie, moon-flower vine, several rose of Sharon, peppermint, lemon mint, garlic chives, catnip and rosemary. Did I forget something?

Another member was supposed to come later, so I am not sure that was all, just all I saw before it got too hot for me. I forgot to bring some cactus, so as soon as I get a chance, you will see some big-lobed cactus pop up.

They are almost spineless and look like prickly pear on steroids. They could possibly be a cactus used for Southwest cooking so I hope they don't disappear. If you want some, I have PLENTY to share.

I knew I forgot something. I will contact Cindy to see if she will keep an eye on them. It is a but of a hassle to get that water hose all the way out to reach the back, so there might be a tendency to skip waterings.

Hmmm, maybe that "water feature' needs to start out as a 55 gallon storage tank to fill up once every few weeks and use as a source to keep those plants alive.

The last few days of intermittent clouds and some rain have been good for the new plantings. Need to make sure someone waters around Wednesday or Thursday with the heat that is coming in.
