Do you love dogs? Love Pit Bull dogs? The Bell Buckle RC/Moon Pie Festival turned up a Big surprise.Posted Sunday, June 17, 2012, at 4:43 PM
Since we park cars at this festival, we rarely get to see the events, and exhibitors. Sometimes the music reaches us, but in general our exposure is just to our parking patrons and the weather. This year was HOT!
But it was also BIG. It was BIG because we happened to have the author of a book ask to set up in front of the lot. After we heard the story behind his book, we decided "why not".
It was about a special drop-off dog named BIG and you folks know we love our pets and since 99% of them are drop-offs, we really could not say no. I loved listening to the stories but eventually we had to park cars, so we lost track of the author for the day.
Being on the "exit" gate, I had no idea of how things went for him, but as he was leaving, he was nice enough to give us a complimentary book. I got a chance to look at it about 30 minutes ago because Deb's mother got to it first.
She got it at about 6:30 last night and read all 240 pages between then and about 3:30 this afternoon. She used to love to read, but the past half year she has dropped off, so when she finished it so quickly, I had to check it out.
The author writes in a truly comfortable way and before I knew it, I was many pages into it and not really wanting to put it down. The combination of easy reading, humor interesting stories make me sure I will have it finished quickly as well.
I've been looking for a book to take my mind off work and I have found it. I never found out if this writer has more books out there, but if so, I will seek them out.
The name of the book is "my name is big" by Lazarus Lake. I did a search and found it on Amazon and a few mentions in blogs.
Can you believe it? Not on eBay and no we are not planning to sell it, although it would not be a bad idea. Hmmm.
